There are so many accolades and words of admiration I can say about Minister Reginald Wayne Sharpe Jr. But briefly, he is a good man.
Character and charisma, intelligence and inquisition, scholarship and sufficiency, leadership and love, accountability and advocacy, aid and action, solidarity and service.
I’ve been following this brother since my sophomore year in high school, 2011 [5 years after I first visited Morehouse College]. I didn’t want to advocate for years, but now I look back at the people who introduced me to extraordinary brothers like Gardner C. Taylor, Ralph Bunche, and C. L. Franklin – people who encouraged that it is okay to strive for perfection and settle for excellence – people who used The Word of God as it should be used – people who promoted financial literacy, economic growth, and priority planning – people who committed to one person for a monogamous relationship that both parties believed in, especially at such a young age. I thank God for Reginald’s transparency and teaching. Below are some quotes Reginald introduced me to. I hold these in my first aid kit for wrapping myself up, as well as aiding others. Stay faithful.
“I am incomplete from the top of my head to the soles of my feet, but I am pieces of the Master so they call me a Masterpiece.” – Dr. Paul Tillich
“Truth forever on the scaffold, Wrong forever on the throne,— Yet that scaffold sways the future, and, behind the dim unknown, Standeth God within the shadow, keeping watch above his own.” – James Russell Lowell
“God provides minimum protection, maximum support–support to help us grow up, to stretch our minds and hearts until they are as wide as God’s universe” – William Sloane Coffin
